Overview
- Work begins next week under architects Mackenzie & Ebert in a program agreed by The R&A and St Andrews Links Trust.
- The course will gain 132 yards to reach 7,445 yards as holes 5, 6, 7, 10, 11 and 16 are extended and the 12th is shortened slightly.
- New championship tees add 35 yards to the 5th (to 605 yards), 17 to the 6th (431), 18 to the 7th, 29 to the 10th, 21 to the 11th and 10 to the 16th, while the 12th tee moves two yards shorter to aid spectator flow.
- Strategic restorations include reopening a historic left route on 16 with two new bunkers, relocating two bunkers on 2, adding drive‑length bunkers on 6 and 10, extending approach bunkers on 9, and restoring the 17th Road Hole bunker.
- Irrigation upgrades will run concurrently to limit disruption as the venue prepares to host The 155th Open from July 15–18, 2027.
