St. Albert Man Charged With Murder in Young Mother’s Death as RCMP Say Missing Baby Is Believed Dead

Investigators continue searches following the discovery of the mother's remains in a Rivercrest Crescent apartment.

Overview

  • Police say the remains of 23-year-old Ayla Egotik-Learn were found on Jan. 23 after officers were called to the St. Albert residence over a report of a suspicious item.
  • RCMP identified the missing child as nine-month-old Braylee Beasley and now presume she is deceased, saying investigators have some understanding of where her remains might be.
  • Christopher William Beasley, 33, was arrested Jan. 27 at a St. Albert hotel and is charged with second-degree murder in Egotik-Learn’s death and two counts of indignity to a body.
  • Court records indicate Beasley is the infant’s father, was in a common-law relationship with Egotik-Learn, and had a 2025 assault conviction against her with probation in effect.
  • The accused has been remanded with a court appearance set for Feb. 2, and records allege the killing occurred on or about Dec. 5 with interference to the remains on the same date.
