Overview
- Footage circulating on social media shows a man climbing the top-level railing of the red student block, jumping, deploying a parachute mid-fall, and landing on the ground.
- Residents told RTV Utrecht the video was recorded on Monday 29 January at the Van Lieflandlaan complex.
- The building is about 52 meters tall with 18 woonlagen, and witnesses say the jump was made from the seventeenth woonlaag on the sixth floor.
- SSH said it had seen the video only recently and announced it will file an official complaint about the jump.
- A Dutch basejumper noted the activity is not explicitly outlawed, but trespassing or endangering others can be offenses, and prior Utrecht jumps in 2022 and 2021 included one case that drew a police fine.
