SSC Installs LED Floodlights as Sri Lanka’s Fifth Day-Night Venue for T20 World Cup

The venue now meets international broadcast standards ahead of five World Cup games starting February 7.

  • Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed a state-of-the-art LED system at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo has been completed for the tournament.
  • The installation features 630 LED fixtures mounted on six high-mast towers to provide uniform illumination with reduced glare and shadows.
  • A centralized control setup enables multiple operating modes, including dynamic lighting scenes designed to enhance spectator experience and broadcasts.
  • Upgrades also include refurbished dressing rooms, offices for ICC match officials, broadcasters’ control and commentary rooms, and improved VIP boxes.
  • SSC will host five T20 World Cup matches, beginning with Pakistan vs Netherlands on opening day, and it now joins Premadasa, Pallekele, Dambulla and Hambantota as Sri Lanka’s day-night venues.
