Sri Lanka Beat Pakistan 2-1 to Clinch ODI Series in Hambantota

The win moves Sri Lanka to second in the ICC Women’s Championship and boosts their bid for direct qualification to the 2029 ODI World Cup.

  • Sri Lanka completed an eight-wicket victory in the third ODI on Tuesday to win the three-match series 2-1 after Pakistan had taken the opening game.
  • Sri Lanka’s bowlers dominated the decider as Chethana Vimukthi, Chamari Athapaththu and Kavisha Dilhari each claimed three wickets to bowl Pakistan out for 187.
  • Harshitha Samarawickrama finished the series with 173 runs and was named Player of the Series after being dismissed only once across the three matches.
  • The hosts had earlier levelled the series with a record chase in the second ODI when Vishmi Gunaratne scored 123 and Samarawickrama an unbeaten 100 to chase 274.
  • The series win lifts Sri Lanka above Pakistan to second place in the ICC Women’s Championship table and both teams now turn to a three-match T20I series starting July 31 with regional streaming on FanCode, Tapmad and ThePapare.
