Square Enix to Shut Down Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis in October

The company says the closure will erase a live archive of rare FFVII stories and leaves future access unclear.

Overview

  • Square Enix announced on July 7 that Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis will end service on October 6, 2026 at 11:00 p.m. PDT.
  • The publisher halted sales of paid Red Crystals on July 7 and said existing paid currency can be used until the servers go offline.
  • A published final roadmap schedules the first worldwide release of Before Crisis FFVII in three chapters across July through September as the game’s last major content push.
  • Square Enix said account information will be deleted after end-of-service procedures and that refunds for unused paid currency will be provided only to residents of Taiwan with details to follow in-game.
  • The shutdown will remove access to episodic Ever Crisis content that contains hard-to-find FFVII lore and leaves unresolved whether Square Enix will offer any offline or archival option for those stories.
