Square Enix Ends Sale of Kingdom Hearts Switch Cloud Editions

The company is replacing cloud-streamed ports with native digital releases, signaling a move toward full support for current Switch hardware and the upcoming Switch 2.

Overview

  • Square Enix stopped selling the Kingdom Hearts cloud-streamed editions on Nintendo Switch and will keep the cloud service running for one year so owners can continue to play.
  • The publisher opened pre-orders for native digital ports on Switch and Switch 2 with the new releases scheduled for October 2026.
  • Owners of the cloud versions can buy the matching digital titles at a discounted price and will be able to transfer their cloud save data to the new digital releases.
  • Discounts apply only to the specific digital title that matches a customer's cloud purchase, with one exception: owners of Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece for Cloud qualify for discounts across all digital versions, and physical collection copies are not eligible.
  • The change follows recent Nintendo Direct announcements and earlier removal of cloud demos, and it marks a strategic shift from cloud streaming toward native ports as Square Enix readies Kingdom Hearts support for Switch 2.
