Square Enix Announces Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United Remake for Feb. 16, 2027

The full 3D remake adds voiced event scenes and new music by Kenji Ito yet preserves the series’ freeform protagonist choices and core Glimmer combat system.

Overview

  • Square Enix revealed the game during Nintendo Direct on Wednesday and set a worldwide release date of February 16, 2027 for Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
  • The remake rebuilds towns and dungeons in full 3D, redesigns character art, and includes full voice acting plus newly arranged tracks supervised by original composer Kenji Ito.
  • Core SaGa systems carry over, including eight selectable protagonists whose choices shape the story, the Glimmer ability-acquisition mechanic, turn-based timeline battles, formations and United Attacks, and over 20 recruitable companions.
  • Players can choose Casual, Normal or Classic (Hard) difficulty, switch between the new and original soundtracks, and buy standard physical or digital editions or a Digital Deluxe edition with pre-orders open now and a PlayStation Store pre-order bonus available through February 15, 2027.
  • The announcement follows a prior Brazilian classification leak and builds on the series’ history dating to the 1995 Super Famicom original and the 2019 remaster, a move that could draw both new players and longtime fans back to SaGa’s non‑linear design.
