- Spotify announced on Tuesday, August 11 that it will begin showing an “AI Persona” label on some artist profiles starting in mid-September to indicate the public identity may have been generated by artificial intelligence.
- Profiles marked as AI Persona will be excluded by default from Spotify’s editorial and algorithmic recommendations so they do not appear in personalized or curated discovery unless a user explicitly follows them.
- Artists can self-declare an AI Persona through Spotify for Artists, and Spotify will also proactively review high-audience profiles, notify affected creators, and offer an appeals process.
- The label is meant to flag the artist’s public identity rather than whether a song was made with AI, and it joins earlier provenance tools such as Verified by Spotify, SongDNA, AI Credits, and profile protection.
