Spotify Rolls Out Page Match, Adds In-App Physical Book Sales Through Bookshop.org

The new tool syncs a scanned page to the matching audiobook moment across most English titles by Feb. 23.

Overview

  • Users in the United States and the United Kingdom will be able to buy printed books in Spotify this spring, with Bookshop.org handling pricing, inventory and fulfillment to route sales to independent bookstores.
  • Page Match lets listeners scan a printed or e-book page in the Spotify app to jump to the corresponding audiobook passage and scan again later to resume reading at the exact spot.
  • Spotify says Page Match will be available on most English-language titles at launch and will reach all audiobook users by February 23.
  • The feature is fully available to Premium subscribers and Audiobook+ members, while free users can access it when they have purchased the audiobook on Spotify.
  • Spotify reports audiobooks now span 22 markets with more than 500,000 English titles, new listeners up 36% and listening hours up 37%, alongside a $1 Premium price increase to $12.99 in the U.S., Estonia and Latvia.
