Overview
- Spotify announced Track Reactions on Tuesday, June 16, and has begun a phased rollout in selected markets.
- Contributors tap a reaction button beside a song and choose one of six emoji—heart, thumbs up, laughing face, headphones, fire or pleading face—to display next to that track.
- Only the playlist owner and invited contributors can see or add reactions, and the person who added a track can opt to receive a Spotify Message notification when someone reacts.
- For collaborative playlists with fewer than 10 editors reactions are enabled by default; for larger groups the owner must enable them and owners can turn reactions off at any time in playlist settings.
- Spotify will make Track Reactions available to users aged 16 and older on both Free and Premium plans as part of a broader push to add social and playlist tools that may increase in-app discussion and playlist curation activity.
