Spokane Woman Sentenced to 28 Years for Premeditated Murder of Her Father

Prosecutors’ evidence of weeks of planning drove a penalty boosted by Washington’s firearm law.

Overview

  • Alyssa Bradburn, 33, was sentenced April 2 in Spokane County Superior Court to 340 months in prison after a jury conviction for first-degree murder with a firearm enhancement.
  • Prosecutors said she planned the killing for about three weeks, practiced with the gun, sought help loading it at a range, and wrote about the plot in her journal.
  • She called 911 on June 25, 2024, to report she shot her father as he returned home, and investigators said he was ambushed at the front door with his suitcase and keys.
  • In court, Bradburn smiled, said she enjoyed the trial, and declared, “I killed Tim Bradburn, and I am guilty,” while telling the judge she would accept punishment.
  • The judge also ordered 36 months of community custody, restitution, and a permanent no-contact order with her brother, who rejected her now-withdrawn claims that their father was abusive.
