Splatoon Raiders Tops Japan’s Physical Charts, Spurs Switch 2 Sales

High retail sales point to continued strength of boxed releases for moving console units in Japan.

Overview

  • Splatoon Raiders, which released on July 23, opened with 474,684 physical copies sold in Japan in its first week according to Famitsu’s July 20–26 chart.
  • Rhythm Heaven Groove was the week’s second-best physical seller with 78,355 boxed copies while other top-ten titles included long-sellers like Mario Kart World and Tomodachi Life.
  • The Switch 2 saw a weekly lift of 50,168 units and a reported lifetime total of 6,102,027, while the three PlayStation 5 SKUs combined for 9,184 units and Switch 1 models totaled 7,167.
  • Famitsu’s figures cover only physical (boxed) retail in Japan and omit digital downloads and overseas sales, so Raiders’ full sales picture is larger and remains incomplete compared with all-format launches like Splatoon 3’s 3.45 million first-three-day total in 2023.
  • The boxed launch gave Nintendo a short-term hardware boost and pushed older titles past milestones, a reminder that strong franchise releases can quickly shift weekly charts and retail demand.
