Speeding SUV Rear-Ends Car in Delhi's Alipur, Killing Toddler

Police are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the fleeing SUV driver.

Overview

  • A crash near the Khampur signal in Alipur on Sunday around 2 pm left a two-year-old dead and injured Ravindra Singh and Aarti.
  • Police said a Toyota Fortuner hit a Maruti Celerio from behind at an estimated 100–120 km/h.
  • The smaller car spun and struck the divider as the traffic light turned green.
  • The child, seated on a front passenger’s lap with the window open because the AC was not working, was flung out and was later declared dead at SRHC Hospital in Narela.
  • Officers registered an FIR under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, India’s criminal code, and are reviewing CCTV to identify the driver who abandoned the SUV and fled.
