Overview
- The Royal Spanish Football Federation signed an agreement on Thursday to hold the 2027 Spanish Super Cup in Istanbul from February 2 to 7, 2027.
- The four confirmed participants are Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad, and published schedules place the semifinals on February 2 and 3 with the final on February 6.
- Matches are set to use three Istanbul stadia — Fenerbahce’s Chobani Stadium, Besiktas’ Tupras Stadium and Galatasaray’s Ali Sami Yen — with a combined capacity of roughly 150,000.
- RFEF president Rafael Louzan said the move was prompted by the Asian Cup date conflict rather than regional security concerns, and he added that hosting in Turkey was agreed with Sela and Saudi authorities.
- Louzan said financial terms for the Istanbul edition are broadly similar to the Saudi arrangement with some improvements, and talks with Sela and Saudi officials about extending their commercial deal beyond 2030 are ongoing.
