Spanish Fork Man Surrenders After Firing at SWAT Vehicle During Domestic Call

  • Police were dispatched just after noon to a home near 831 S. 1520 East after a woman reported her husband had hurt her and previously held a knife to her, and she was able to escape.
  • Responding officers saw the man with a firearm, heard shots from inside, and noted he had multiple weapons and was throwing items out a window.
  • Utah County Metro SWAT deployed a BearCat armored vehicle to support negotiations, the suspect fired at the vehicle, and several officers returned fire with no reported injuries to others.
  • A shelter-in-place alert was issued for the area around 800 South and 1520 East and was lifted shortly after the suspect was taken into custody around 1:21 p.m.
  • The suspect sustained minor injuries, was transported to a hospital for evaluation, and authorities have not released his identity or formal charges as the investigation proceeds.
