Spain’s New Company Formations Hit Highest Since 2007 With 2025 Gain of 7.9%

INE data signal faster creation paired with thinner capitalization alongside rising closures.

  • Spain created 127,533 companies in 2025, up 7.9%, marking a third consecutive annual increase.
  • Founders subscribed more than €5,766 million in capital, a 1.4% rise, while average capital fell 6% to €45,217.
  • Company dissolutions rose 3.7% to 26,073, the second-highest figure after 2022, with 83.5% voluntary, 8.7% from mergers and 7.8% for other reasons.
  • December recorded 11,719 incorporations, a 24.2% year‑on‑year jump and the highest December total in the historical series.
  • Madrid (28,348), Catalonia (24,907) and Andalusia (21,503) led new-company creation, while La Rioja, Cantabria and Navarra had the fewest.
