Spain’s Easter Road Push Strains Highways as AP-7 Crash Triggers Long Delays

Overview

  • A truck and two cars collided on the AP-7 near Llinars del Vallès, closing the southbound side for about an hour and causing more than 15 kilometers of queues.
  • A separate five-car pileup on the AP-7 in Olèrdola left three people with non-serious injuries and generated long backups before lanes reopened.
  • The national traffic agency said five people have died in crashes since the second phase of the Semana Santa operation began on Wednesday.
  • Catalonia’s traffic service added temporary lanes on key AP-7 stretches and kept limits on heavy vehicles, with 1,669 Mossos officers running more than a thousand roadside checks.
  • The DGT expects 9.9 million long trips through Monday and urges drivers to avoid distractions, keep distance, use seat belts, and take extra care on conventional two-lane roads.
