Overview
- Spain drew 5.6 million international visitors in February, INE data published Wednesday showed, with total spending up 4.6% to €7.606 billion as arrivals rose 2.8%.
- Across January and February, inbound tourism reached 10.7 million visitors, up 2% year on year, and spending hit a record €15.411 billion, up 6.9%.
- The United Kingdom stayed the top source market with more than one million arrivals, France fell to 687,434 visitors, and the Asian market surged about 42%.
- The Canary Islands led by arrivals with a 26.8% share, yet tourist spending there totaled €2.221 billion and dipped 1.6%, while Catalonia’s spending jumped 18.7% to €1.372 billion.
- Madrid hosted 659,007 visitors who spent €1.166 billion, with shorter average stays of 5.1 days but the highest daily outlay at €347 versus the €190 national average.
