Overview
- The Ministry of Transport launched the programme on Monday, July 6, starting phase 1 with a full or partial closure of km 480.5–477.2 that will run until the night of July 13.
- The works cover km 407–480.5 across Lugo and León and carry a confirmed budget of €8.8 million, VAT included.
- The schedule runs in six dated phases through October, with a notable total closure of km 479.5–469 from July 13 to August 10 and a final full closure of km 420–407 planned from September 10 to October 6.
- Traffic will be managed by converting the unaffected carriageway to bidirectional ‘transfer’ traffic in some phases and by routing vehicles along the N‑6 during full closures, measures the Ministry says are aimed at protecting workers and motorists.
- Drivers on the key Galicia–Madrid corridor should expect longer travel times this summer, check official circulation information before trips, and allow extra time because delays could spread onto local roads through towns such as O Corgo, Baralla, Becerreá, Vega de Valcarce and Trabadelo.
