- The government approved the Real Decreto this Tuesday, creating a €400 million, centrally managed subsidy programme that offers direct grants up to €4,500 for passenger electric vehicles.
- Aid is allocated by the 'EEE' formula—50% for full electric or fuel‑cell cars, 25% for plug‑in hybrids, up to 25% for lower price bands, and up to 25% more for EU assembly and EU battery production.
- Management is centralised at the State with a telematic platform for applications, dealers may file on buyers' behalf and must apply a minimum €1,000 discount at point of sale, and approved applicants will be paid within 60 days.
- Industry groups welcomed the legal certainty but warned the €400 million envelope may be too small given earlier committed sales that Faconauto estimates at about €214 million in the first half and may cause rapid exhaustion of funds.
