SpaceX Targets Saturday Night Vandenberg Starlink Launch, Eyes 550th Booster Landing

The West Coast mission reflects a rapid December cadence across both coasts.

Overview

  • Liftoff is scheduled during a 9:20 p.m.–1:20 a.m. PT window on Dec. 13–14 to deploy 27 Starlink satellites to low Earth orbit.
  • The flight is designated Starlink 15-12 and will depart SLC-4E on a southeast trajectory using Falcon 9 first stage B1093 on its ninth mission.
  • About 8.5 minutes after launch, B1093 will aim for an autonomous droneship landing on Of Course I Still Love You that SpaceX says would mark its 550th successful booster recovery if achieved.
  • An FAA operations-plan advisory lists a next-day backup opportunity should the launch be postponed.
  • The rocket’s path should be visible from parts of Arizona, and the flight comes during a busy stretch that also has multiple Florida launches queued within hours, pending weather.
