SpaceX Disables 2,500 Starlink Devices Linked to Myanmar Scam Centers After KK Park Raid

The action follows a junta operation at KK Park that revealed extensive illicit use of unlicensed satellite terminals at a major border fraud hub.

Overview

  • Myanmar state media said troops raided KK Park near Myawaddy, detaining 2,198 people and seizing 30 Starlink receivers and accessories.
  • AFP’s satellite and drone imagery indicated far more Starlink dishes were installed at the complex, including nearly 80 on one rooftop.
  • SpaceX executive Lauren Dreyer said the company disabled more than 2,500 Starlink kits near suspected scam centers in Myanmar, without specifying when service was cut.
  • An AFP journalist observed more than 1,000 people leaving KK Park after the raid, as authorities moved to shut operations across more than 250 buildings.
  • The military accused the Karen National Union of involvement, which the group denies, as U.S. lawmakers opened an inquiry into Starlink’s role and reports noted Starlink is not licensed in Myanmar with terminals smuggled in.
