Southwest Launches Santa Rosa Service as Its 14th California Airport

The entry introduces low-cost competition expected to ease fares for North Bay travelers.

Overview

  • Southwest, which launched at Santa Rosa on Tuesday, April 7, now flies nonstop to San Diego, Las Vegas, Burbank and Denver.
  • The schedule runs daily to San Diego and Las Vegas, five days a week to Burbank, and Saturdays to Denver.
  • A Sip and Ship program starts April 24 that lets each traveler check one case of wine for free if they depart select West Coast wine-country airports.
  • The free case can hold up to 12 unopened bottles under 50 pounds in a proper wine shipping box or wine suitcase that a Southwest agent inspects at check-in.
  • Airport leaders project a 30% jump in available seats this year and say Southwest’s arrival could lower fares and draw more Wine Country visitors.
