Southbound 19th Avenue Closes Through Monday for Weekend Repaving

The shutdown is the second of three weekend sprints to cut about 40 days of work to roughly 10.

Overview

  • Caltrans closed the southbound stretch between Lincoln Way and Sloat Boulevard at 3 a.m. Friday, with work scheduled to run until 5 a.m. Monday.
  • Two lanes are closed during the operation, and one lane remains open only for public transit, emergency vehicles, and local access.
  • Drivers cannot park on 19th Avenue during the work and may face brief driveway blocks as crews repave in front of homes and businesses.
  • Official detours steer most traffic from Geary or Fulton to the Great Highway, then onto Lincoln Way and Sunset Boulevard to reach Sloat Boulevard.
  • A final round over Memorial Day weekend will close both directions between Sloat and Holloway for paving, pothole repairs, and traffic-sensor upgrades to improve ride quality and safety.
