South Kolkata Water Supply to Be Shut From 9:30 a.m. Saturday for Repairs

KMC says the time-boxed outage will fix a recurring leak near the Tollygunge rail bridge to curb water loss.

Water will run on Saturday morning, then stop after 9:30 a.m., with no afternoon or evening supply and service expected to resume Sunday morning.
The shutdown covers large parts of south Kolkata, including Jadavpur, Tollygunge, Behala, Joka, Maheshtala, Kasba and Budge Budge, with KMC listing disruptions in boroughs VIII to XII.
Garden Reach waterworks operations and several booster pumping stations will pause, including Kalighat, Chetla, Golf Green, Garfa, Ranikuthi, Behala, Parnasree and Metiabruz.
Work includes laying a new pipeline to bypass the damaged stretch near the Tollygunge railway bridge, connecting a line to the under-construction Vivekananda Park booster station and replacing deteriorating valves.
Officials describe the shutdown as routine maintenance intended to reduce wastage and improve long-term network efficiency.
