The push signals quicker adoption of homegrown train control to raise safety and capacity.
Overview
- South Central Railway reported completing Kavach 4.0 field trials over 487 route kilometres in 2025–26, beating the Railway Board's 402 km goal.
- Kavach trials used equipment mounted on locomotives that can brake a train that passes a danger signal and keep speed within limits.
- The zone also commissioned Automatic Block Signalling on 479 route kilometres, exceeding the 357 km target set for the year.
- ABS went live on the Kazipet–Balharshah, Vijayawada–Duvvada, and Wadi–Renigunta corridors to let multiple trains follow safely without rear-end risk.
- General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava said Kavach and ABS rollout now ranks as a top priority to lift safety and throughput on busy routes.
