Overview
- Prosecutors told the jury police surveillance captured Mark Murphy recounting that Sheree Glastonbury gave Geoffrey McLean a sleeping tablet and a “shooter” before Murphy dismembered the body and cut off the head to fit it into a car.
- The Crown says Murphy also discussed staging an overdose by leaving McLean in a park wheelchair but abandoned the plan due to rigor mortis, and that the victim’s eBay account was used to make purchases to suggest he was still alive.
- Phone and CCTV evidence are said to place Murphy at the Andrews Farm home on August 18, 2022, after which McLean was not seen again, and Glastonbury reported him missing on August 29.
- Prosecutors allege Peter Murphy hired a truck and, with Lynette Sexton, helped store and move the remains, and that McLean’s torso found on October 24, 2022, in a sealed wheelie bin was traced to a bin linked to a property beside the Murphys’ Brahma Lodge home.
- Sheree Glastonbury and Mark Murphy have pleaded not guilty to murder and related assaults, with the Crown citing prior April–May 2022 attacks and a separate acid assault by Anthony Lloyd, who has pleaded guilty, in a trial set to run about three months before a 15-person jury.
