Overview
- Deputy President Paul Mashatile arrived in New Delhi on Friday, 29 May, for a Working Visit running to 3 June focused on political and economic ties.
- He is scheduled to meet Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan and pay a courtesy call on President Droupadi Murmu as part of formal bilateral talks.
- A high-level roundtable with Indian business leaders is planned to pitch South Africa as an investment destination in sectors such as health, technology, renewable energy and mining.
- Mashatile is travelling with a ministerial delegation including the health and small-business ministers and deputy ministers for foreign relations, science and digital technologies to fast-track sectoral cooperation.
- The visit aims to deepen South-South cooperation and align positions in forums like BRICS and the G20 while building on growing trade links since the last South African head-of-state visit in January 2019.
