South Africa Seal T20I Series 2-1 as Pakistan Romp in Benoni Finale

Overview

  • Pakistan routed South Africa by 53 runs at Willowmoore Park, their biggest women’s T20I win over the Proteas.
  • Fatima Sana struck 47 not out off 30 and took 2-12 to claim Player of the Match and Series, amassing 146 runs from Nos. 6–8 for a three-match T20I record.
  • South Africa were bowled out for 91 after slipping to 30-4 in the powerplay, with a 55-run stand from Nadine de Klerk (27) and Annerie Dercksen (30) halted by a late collapse.
  • Marizanne Kapp left the field ill after conceding just 11 in three overs and did not bat, a loss the Proteas staff said weakened their middle-order stability on a used pitch.
  • The decider was moved from Kimberley to Benoni after the Kimberley Oval was deemed not match-ready, and the teams now shift to ODIs on February 22, 25 and March 1 following a February 19 warm-up.
