  • On Tuesday, June 30, the NFL, the NFL Players Association and Brendan Sorsby reached a settlement that ends further litigation over the league’s decision not to hold a 2026 supplemental draft.
  • Under the deal Sorsby is officially classed as draft‑eligible for the 2027 NFL Draft and may not sign an NFL player contract until the draft concludes.
  • The settlement permits Sorsby to participate in normal pre‑draft activities such as all‑star games, pro days and team visits so teams can evaluate him ahead of 2027.
  • The NFL will not discipline Sorsby for the misconduct already publicly known but retains the right to investigate additional conduct and to factor past college violations into any future punishment.
  • Sorsby has admitted to thousands of bets totaling about $90,000, completed inpatient treatment for a gambling disorder, cannot play in the CFL in 2026, and received a reported $5 million NIL deal from Texas Tech that the school will not seek to recover.
