Sony Launches The Playerbase to Scan Fans Into PlayStation Games, Starting With Gran Turismo 7

A loyalty-based contest will pick one fan to test the idea inside Gran Turismo 7.

  • Sony opened applications Tuesday, April 7, for a new program that lets eligible fans in the Americas, Europe, Asia, South Africa, and Australia apply on a PlayStation site using their PSN account.
  • The selection uses multiple rounds that weigh a written story and PlayStation account history, narrows roughly 50–150 entries to video interviews, names three finalists, and then chooses one winner.
  • The winner will travel to PlayStation’s Visual Arts studio in Los Angeles for a professional scan with airfare, two hotel nights, and a $200 per diem covered, with Japan-based winners excluded from those travel perks under the rules.
  • In Gran Turismo 7, the winner will appear later this year as a limited-time character portrait and will co-create a Fantasy Logo and a custom vehicle livery that will be added permanently to the game’s Showcase menu.
