- Sony, which updated its PlayStation Blog on Monday, set higher prices for PS5 models and the PlayStation Portal in South Korea and six Southeast Asian markets effective May 1.
- New MSRPs include Singapore PS5 at SGD 849, Malaysia at MYR 2,799, Thailand at THB 20,990, Indonesia at IDR 11,399,000, the Philippines at PHP 40,032, and Vietnam at VND 16,900,000.
- In South Korea, the PS5 will list at ₩948,000 and the PS5 Pro at ₩1,298,000, while the PlayStation Portal will be ₩378,000.
- Potential buyers have only a few days to secure current prices, and Singapore retailers were still showing pre-hike tags on Monday.
- Sony framed the increases as a necessary step under continued global economic pressures, following April 2 hikes in North America, Europe, Japan, and Brazil where the PS5 now lists at $649.99 in the US and €649.99 in Europe, and Push Square reported sales in Japan fell after the jump.
