Sony Announces Xperia 10 VIII With Few Material Changes

The new midrange phone preserves the Xperia 10 line’s affordable focus while offering modest spec and design tweaks that may not move many buyers.

Overview

  • Sony formally unveiled the Xperia 10 VIII in a YouTube livestream on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, confirming the name, core specs and pricing.
  • The phone uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a 6.1-inch 120Hz FHD+ OLED screen and a 5,000 mAh battery.
  • Sony kept a dual rear camera array led by a 50MP main sensor plus a 13MP ultrawide, and preserved practical features such as a microSD slot, 3.5mm headphone jack and IP65/IP68 water resistance.
  • Pricing starts around €599/£549 and Sony says the Xperia 10 VIII will roll out in mid to late September with regional launches likely to favor Japan and Europe.
  • The phone’s small design updates — sharper frame edges, a ‘floating’ camera island and new color finishes — and largely unchanged hardware underline Sony’s two-phone strategy but may reduce the incentive for owners of last year’s model to upgrade.
