Overview
- Sony announced on September 15 that it will release two wireless headsets called the PlayStation Pulse Wireless and the premium Pulse Edge Wireless with staggered launch windows.
- Both models use larger custom planar magnetic drivers that Sony says improve bass, spatial accuracy and sound separation compared with prior Pulse models.
- Both headsets support PlayStation Link lossless low-latency wireless through a USB-C adapter and also allow simultaneous Bluetooth connection to phones, PCs and Macs.
- Pulse Edge doubles the magnets per driver to eight, adds active noise cancellation, a detachable boom mic and built-in game/chat balance controls while the standard Pulse uses four magnets and omits ANC and the boom mic.
- Sony has not revealed prices, exact launch or preorder dates, or battery-life figures so independent testing and the headsets’ market impact will depend on those commercial details.
