Sonnenlandpark Opens 35-Meter-High Skywalk in Saxony

The operator-funded upgrade aims to draw more visitors for the park’s 20th year.

Overview

  • The bridge, which opened Saturday in Lichtenau, drew Saxony’s minister-president Michael Kretschmer, who walked it and then took the tube slide.
  • The fixed walkway spans 72 meters, sits 35 meters above the ground, and is 1.75 meters wide.
  • It links the park’s experience pyramid to the giant slide tower to give visitors a high-altitude route between the two new sites.
  • The Skywalk caps a 20th‑anniversary buildout that the operator says cost about €3 million, after the pyramid and slide opened last autumn.
  • Sonnenlandpark says it offers more than 50 attractions across 35 hectares near the A4 motorway, and it bills the Skywalk as a birthday gift for visitors.
