Son Charged With Murder After Father Found With Severe Burns in Glenmore Park

Police say evidence points to forced entry and use of an accelerant; detectives will carry out forensic exams and seek public tips.

Overview

  • The incident occurred shortly before 1am on Thursday when emergency services found a man in his 60s outside a partly alight home in Glenmore Park with significant burns and other injuries.
  • Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze and paramedics treated a 36-year-old man for minor hand and foot injuries before he was taken to Nepean Hospital under police guard.
  • Police arrested the 36-year-old in a car in Werrington about 6:45am and later charged him with murder; he has been refused bail and is due to appear at Penrith Local Court.
