Solar Trash and Recycling Cans Arrive at Magic Kingdom Unthemed

- The first outdoor solar-powered trash and recycling cans were spotted Saturday in the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure queue at Magic Kingdom and replace the prior bayou-decaled receptacles.
- Functionally the Magic Kingdom units match the EPCOT models because each pairs a trash compactor with a recycling bin, uses a solar-panel lid on outdoor units to charge an internal battery, and offers a touch-free foot pedal to open the lid.
- Unlike the World Showcase versions that carry pavilion medallions, the new Magic Kingdom units are plain brown and black and currently lack any bayou-themed decals or finishes.
- Disney has said Walt Disney Imagineering is involved in the rollout but has not given a timeline or details for applying land-specific theming to the new cans.
