Smart Reveals Near-Production #2 Design in Global Mural Campaign

The street-art rollout signals a production-ready push that leads to the car’s official world premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October.

Overview

  • Smart rolled out murals that publicly show the near-production look of its two-seat #2 in Berlin, Paris, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Buenos Aires and Melbourne on Tuesday, putting the car on display before its formal debut.
  • Published planning-sheet images and the murals confirm the #2 measures about 2.7 metres long and keeps the compact ForTwo-style layout with very short overhangs.
  • Initial technical figures reported for the #2 list a roughly 35.7 kWh underfloor battery, an advertised WLTP range of about 300 km (186 miles) and DC fast charging from 10 to 80 percent in under 20 minutes.
  • The production-ready visuals show specific production changes from the concept including a ventilated grille, a revised 'shark nose' front, circular taillights, a pronounced rear spoiler and a conventional liftgate.
  • Smart created the murals with the Mercedes‑Benz design team and local artists such as Martín Ron, Georgia Laurie, Zhu Bin and Parents Parents, and the company says final specifications will be confirmed at the Paris Motor Show on October 12–18.
