Regulators detected elevated levels of the carcinogenic compound danthron in specific Slimny batches.

  • Go Asia GmbH and Orient Master GmbH announced a nationwide recall of Slimny herbal tea in 40 g packs sold at Go Asia stores.
  • Impacted batches are 2025354785, 2025397402 and LM00016067, with imports handled by Asia Express Food in the Netherlands.
  • The recalled product was distributed across branches in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg, Hesse, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and Saxony.
  • Consumers are urged not to drink the tea and to dispose of it or return it to any Go Asia location for a full refund with no receipt required.
  • Danthron is an anthraquinone derivative listed as prohibited for foods under EU Regulation 1925/2006 and cited by the NIEHS as carcinogenic and genotoxic, with past use as a laxative and advice to seek medical care if symptoms occur.
