- Third Man Records confirmed Hempispheres will arrive digitally on Sept. 3 and on physical formats on Oct. 30, with a five-track sequence that opens with “Have Spacesuit Will Travel.”
- The band released a second preview single, “The Morrisist,” after debuting “Have Spacesuit Will Travel” in June to announce the new era.
- Sleep’s lineup for the record is Al Cisneros with Melvins drummer Dale Crover and Void guitarist Bubba Dupree following the departure of founding guitarist Matt Pike.
- Hempispheres was recorded at the Melvins’ studio with longtime engineer Toshi Kasai, tying the sessions to an established heavy-music production network.
