Slay the Spire 2’s First Major Balance Patch Hits Beta With Anti-Infinite Nerfs and Phobia Mode

Mega Crit is testing the overhaul in an opt-in branch before wider release.

Overview

  • Patch 0.100.0 is live on the Steam beta branch, with further tuning expected before it moves to the main build.
  • The update’s primary goal is to make infinite loops harder, with sweeping card reworks such as the Silent’s Prepared becoming Prepare and Ironclad’s Expect a Fight limiting energy gain per turn.
  • Phobia Mode adds alternate visuals and disables certain animations to reduce discomfort from enemies and backgrounds like Terror Eel, Wrigglers, and the Infection overlay.
  • Economy and progression changes include shop relics costing 25 Gold less, a hard cap on power stacking, removal of gold-generating relics from the shop, and no Epoch unlocks from daily or custom runs.
  • Multiplayer tools are toned down—Huddle Up now exhausts, Beacon of Hope’s block sharing no longer stacks, and Believe in You grants less energy—while players report the Doormaker can now consume every tenth drawn card.
