Overview
- The Skyliners announced Tuesday that Sebastian Gleim will leave in August to become the first assistant to Gordon Herbert at the New Zealand Breakers.
- At the Breakers Gleim will be Herbert’s primary assistant and will take charge of the team when Herbert has duties with the Canadian national team.
- Gleim will remain available to Frankfurt through early August to finish roster planning, but the club has not named a successor and says the sporting director post is hard to replace.
- Frankfurt recently secured a three-year EuroCup license and has signalled plans to raise its budget and pursue a new arena, raising the stakes on finding a capable replacement for continental competition.
- Gleim cited family reasons and prior work in New Zealand with the Franklin Bulls for the move, the club made an emotional send-off public, and Troy Culley was separately confirmed as coach of the Skyliners Juniors.
