Overview
- Police found skeletal human remains, which officers located Tuesday around 11 a.m. after a man called 911 and directed them to a storage space under the Brooklyn–Queens Expressway near Exit 41 on Northern Boulevard in Jackson Heights.
- The remains were inside a vacant, doored-off area beneath the ramp, a closed storage spot under the highway overpass that is not easy to reach.
- The body was so decomposed that investigators could not immediately determine the person’s gender or how long the remains had been there.
- The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is conducting a forensic examination to establish the cause of death and to assess if a crime occurred.
- The NYPD says the investigation is active with no arrests or identification released yet, and results could take time as examiners study bones, tissue, and any trace evidence.
