SK Telecom and Samsung Sign MOU to Co-Develop AI-Native 6G RAN

The collaboration pairs SKT’s nationwide data and testbeds with Samsung Research’s AI modeling expertise to speed 6G commercialization.

Overview

  • Announced Nov. 26 in Seoul, the agreement commits the companies to joint research and demonstrations for AI-driven radio access networks.
  • Priority work targets AI-based channel estimation, distributed MIMO transmission and reception, and AI-RAN schedulers and core network technologies.
  • SK Telecom will provide network data and build demonstration infrastructure across its nationwide footprint.
  • Samsung Research will develop the AI channel estimation models and distributed MIMO algorithms, with both sides leading the effort.
  • The partners build on cooperation in the AI-RAN Alliance, where they proposed AI channel estimation in Espoo and shared early results in Boston, alongside SKT’s prior 6G white paper, MWC demos, and an Nvidia tie-up.
