Overview
- SK hynix formally unveiled its corporate venture brand on Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, at an inaugural Ventures Day in Silicon Valley attended by CEO Kwak Noh-Jung, company executives, venture firms and startup leaders.
- The fund will target companies working on AI computing, data-center hardware, system software and optical interconnect technologies that can raise performance or cut power use in large AI models.
- SK hynix said the shift moves its venture work from passive tech scouting to active co-design and partnership, combining investments with technical collaboration, joint equipment development and proof-of-concept projects.
- The company points to a decade of CVC activity since 2015 that it says has returned more than twice its invested capital, and markets reacted positively with SKHY shares rising in pre-market trading after the announcement.
- The initiative could help SK hynix lock in supply-chain links, accelerate startup technologies into commercial systems and change how memory and interconnect firms work with data-center operators, so watch for new partnerships, pilot projects and follow-on funding rounds.
