Sixers and Flyers Pick Broad and Pattison Site for New Arena

Pre-construction testing will start soon pending City Hall approvals for a three-year build toward a 2030 opening.

Overview

  • Comcast Spectacor and the 76ers chose the southeast corner of Broad Street and Pattison Avenue, next to SEPTA’s Broad Street Line, near where the Spectrum once stood.
  • Pre-construction site testing will begin soon as the developers coordinate timing with Mayor Cherelle Parker and City Council President Kenyatta Johnson.
  • Project leaders expect City Council legislation to be introduced in late fall or early winter before full construction can start.
  • Once approved, construction is slated to take about three years, with the goal of hosting Philadelphia’s new WNBA team by the 2030 season.
  • Xfinity Mobile Arena will be demolished after the new venue opens, and plans now focus on adding retail and tying the arena to the Stateside Live! entertainment complex before any larger mixed-use buildout.
