Overview
- A tractor and a VW Tiguan collided on the Fosse Way between the turning for Compton Verney and the Five Ways roundabout at about 5pm on Friday, July 31, and a six-year-old girl taken to hospital with serious head injuries died the next morning.
- West Midlands Ambulance Service attended the scene and transported the child to hospital, and police say the drivers of both vehicles and two young passengers in the Tiguan were shaken but uninjured.
- Warwickshire Police have opened an active inquiry (incident 331 of July 31) and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or who has dashcam footage from the B4455 around 5pm to come forward.
- Investigators say dashcam and witness accounts are needed to establish the sequence of events and causation on the rural through-road where agricultural vehicles regularly share routes with private cars.
- The victim’s family are receiving specialist support while enquiries continue and local officers have urged anyone with information to report it quoting the incident number to assist the ongoing investigation.
