Six Held as Punjab Police Bust Alleged Cross-Border Arms Module in Amritsar

Police say preliminary probes point to social-media links to Pakistan-based handlers using drone drops.

Overview

  • Officers recovered five pistols, a sharp-edged weapon, and 34 live cartridges, including a 9mm Glock, a 9mm Taurus, and a 9mm Gretta reported as made in Pakistan.
  • Rohit Kumar, 18, and a 16-year-old were first detained during a patrol with a .30-bore pistol and a blade, leading investigators to supplier Karanbir Singh, 24.
  • Further interrogation led to the arrests of Jashandeep Singh, 18, Onkar Singh, 21, and Akashdeep Singh, 24, and to the seizure of four additional pistols.
  • An FIR under Sections 25(6,7,8) of the Arms Act was registered at Maqboolpura police station, and police say the investigation is continuing to map the network.
