Overview
- Special Tribunal Judge M Victor granted a preservation order on December 9 to freeze a Bendor, Polokwane property valued at about R3.9 million and a Nissan NP200 linked to Eskom employee Johannes Seroke Mfalapitsa and his spouse.
- Forensic analysis traced more than R29 million Eskom paid to Buzwe, NTG Solutions and Litha Langa, with round‑figure, VAT‑less outflows to people and entities tied to Mfalapitsa and roughly R7 million alleged to have been funnelled by Buzwe.
- The SIU alleges about R8 million reached a close network of family and associates, including over R2.2 million to Mfalapitsa’s spouse and more than R228,000 to his brother.
- Investigators say Mfalapitsa drafted the scope, evaluated bids and later managed the project while failing to declare his spouse’s payments from NTG from 2016 to 2024; he has been referred for disciplinary action and is suspended.
- The SIU contends at least R1.5 million of the home’s construction was funded by unlawful payments, noting direct contractor payments exceeding R155,000 by Buzwe director Bulelani Lengoasa, and it will refer any criminal evidence to the NPA.
